Exceptional handmade Minoan sandal for women inspired by the Minoan Age. Made from quality leather, both the leather and the metallic embellishment on the upper part of the sandal have been carefully handcrafted in our workshop by skilled craftsmen.
The upper wide strap of the sandal consists of two layers of leather. The first layer forms the base and the second layer is fur to which the metal decoration has been applied. This has been done for your comfort and to ensure the security of the decorative feature. The leather insole has also been hand painted to give a wood-like textured appearance that complements the upper band and toe ring. The decorative feature is a Minotaur, handmade from bronze, modeled, cast, polished and plated with 22K gold.
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was half human, half bull – the body of man and the head of a bull. His name was Minotaur Asterion and he lived in a labyrinth built by Daedalus on the orders of King Minos of Crete. According to legend, King Minos ruled Athens and forced Athenians to sacrifice seven maidens and seven youths to the Minotaur every nine years until he was killed by the Athenian hero, Theseus.
A simply stunning pair of slide sandals for women, a reminder of Minoan life in Crete; a wonderful gift for you, gift for her, best friend gift or history buff gift inspired by classical Greek mythology.
